The Sigma 150-600 Sport focuses quite fast on a Nikon D300 and blazing fast on a Nikon D500. The bare Nikon 300mm f2.8 may be a touch faster, hard to differentiate a difference and the same is true with the 1.4x TC. The Sigma 150-600 Contemporary for Canon with Fringer EF to Fuji X is blazing fast on my Fuji X-T3.

Matty makes a good point regarding low light performance with your lens vs the slower Sigma 150-600. I also think the 1DX2 and 7D2 are a bit more robust when it comes to autofocus. On the 5D3 with 150-600 and a 1.4 converter I typically only got a center point for autofocus, and it could be slow and unreliable in bad light.
